Abby sat down on Kyler’s bed after she pulled her boots back on, her head in her hands as she tried not to crack. If she didn’t go downstairs would Kyler keep on waiting for her, miss his ferry, miss his plane? But she couldn’t do that forever, she had to be realistic.

She got up and checked her face in the mirror, making sure no tears had escaped without her knowing, and gave her reflection a weak smile before heading downstairs. As she headed down the stairs could hear someone finish up working in the kitchen. It was probably Kyler, he had made them the most wonderful breakfast and he probably didn’t want to leave the dishes for his family to clean up. Abby frowned to herself, shaking her head. she needed to stop finding things she loved about him, it wasn’t fair.

Abby smiled when she spotted Kyler, and all she wanted to do was run into his arms and cry, but got distracted when Cady ran through the room. She laughed as she watched Cady and Gwen, wondering if they’d still want to hang out with her without Kyler. When they were alone again, Abby walked right over to Kyler and wrapped her arms around his neck in a tight hug.

“I don’t want to let go.” Abby whispered quietly, her voice cracking.

Kyler leaned in and kissed her forehead, letting his lips linger on her skin closing his eyes. He knew he had to be the biggest selfish bastard for even letting it get this deep when he was leaving. But he couldn’t help it, Abby was special and she would continue to be special to him even after she’d gone and found someone better.

He pulled away a little and grasped her face gently, stroking her cheeks. “I know babe, but look at it this way. We had an amazing two months probably two months that a lot of people aren’t ever gonna get because let’s face it not everyone can fall in love with Abby Kennedy. I think everyone would be happier if they did, but it’s just not possible,” he said giving her a smile, “so we got to share something that some people may never get to have.”

He kissed her forehead again before letting go of her popping his head through the kitchen. “Yeah, yeah I’m coming,” Ryker said from his office. There was shuffling before Ryker walked through pulling on his coat. He gave Abby a smile and a wink before scooping up Kyler’s bag.

“My name’s Kei and I’ll be you driver today,” he joked heading for the door. He paused turning back to look at him. “Take your time but we gotta head out in a few minutes if you wanna catch that ferry,” Ryker said giving Kyler a look before heading out the door.

Kyler finished washing his and Abby’s breakfast dishes in the sink trying to keep it together. He thought he could hold it in until Abby was out of sight. She didn’t need to see him sobbing like a baby.

He put the last of their dishes in the strainer and turned to head into the living room. He smiled at Abby seeing her walk down the stairs. He tried to ignore her face knowing that if he didn’t he’d break down right there.

He was about to say something when Cady ran back inside and past Kyler. “I FORGOT MY STICKERS!” she called out running into the next room. Kyler laughed shaking his head as his older sister peeked her head in.

“Sorry I swear she put up the biggest fit over those stickers,” Gwen apologized and Cady ran back in.

“GOT ‘EM!” Cady screamed then ran towards Gwen. Ryker was in his study deciding to give Kyler and Abby a few minutes alone before they took off for the ferry.
